Upon arrival at Suzhou Railway Station, you will be greeted by your local guide and escorted to your hotel for check-in. Make the most of your first night here by getting out and about. Your hotel is centrally located, making it easy to explore the surrounding area, including the Grand Canal and other attractions in the area.

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your exploration of Tiger Hill, a large hill park full of legends and beautiful scenery. One of the special features is the leaning Tiger Hill Pagoda, set amidst vast gardens, trees, and lawns, dotted with ancient pavilions and stone artifacts. Learn from your guide how the park’s beauty and tranquility belies its history. Continue to the Lingering Garden, a large private garden dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1593). The garden is known for its clever layout of four different sections and numerous grotesque stones. Mountains, water, and antique buildings form a fascinating landscape that showcases an interesting display of traditional Chinese garden art and architecture. In the late afternoon, take a rickshaw ride around Pingjiang Road, a well-preserved historic district that stretches along Pingjiang and will take you back to its origins during the Tang and Song dynasties. Wander through the alleys, ancient residences, rivers and bridges of this corner of history and reflect on the way of life of the locals.

Today’s adventure begins with a morning departure where your guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby. Today, after breakfast, explore Suzhou with your guide who will pick you up at your hotel lobby. The first stop is one of the most famous and spectacular gardens in China, the Humble Administrator’s Garden, located in the center of Suzhou and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this classically designed private garden, you can take some time for contemplation and feel the calm. Wander through the picturesque landscape where traditional buildings, hills, lawns, flowers and winding streams blend with nature to create an environment with poetic elegance. Admire the artistic features and architectural value in the contrast of styles and history at the Suzhou Museum, where the new building was designed by the world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, who was responsible for the design of the Louvre Pyramid. Here you can also find the historical ruins of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom’s Zhongwang Mansion. The artifacts here reflect the ancient collections, especially paintings and aircraft from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Wander through the garden-style museum and feel the historical and cultural significance of Suzhou-style gardens. The stunning scenery will make you want to pick up your camera to take pictures. Visit Tongli Water Town and experience the Jiangnan water town style. Tongli is famous for its well-preserved ancient buildings, private gardens, temples and traditional houses, which are pleasing to the eye. The town is surrounded by five lakes, with charming waterscapes and a peaceful atmosphere. You can stroll along the stone streets at your leisure, or stop at a simple teahouse to sip a cup of Chinese tea and savor it. At the end of the day, you will return to your hotel in Suzhou.
Note: Since Suzhou Museum is closed on Mondays, your guide may make some adjustments to your itinerary if your travel date is on this day.
