Pan-shan Scenic Area is located in Lianhualing Village, Guanzhuang Town, Jizhou District, Tianjin. Spanning an area of 106 square kilometers, it is renowned as the "Foremost Mountain East of Beijing" due to its commanding position east of the capital. Historically, the mountain was known by various names, including Wuzhong, Xuwu, Sizheng, and Panlong. According to legend, toward the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, a prominent scholar from Wuzhong named Tian Chou—who declined official honors from Emperor Xian—chose to live here in seclusion; consequently, the mountain came to be called "Tianpan Mountain," later shortened to "Pan-shan." The scenic area is a destination where natural landscapes and historical sites converge, blending Buddhist traditions with imperial culture. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited Pan-shan 32 times, composing 1,702 poems and essays about the mountain. He famously remarked, "Had I known of Pan-shan earlier, there would have been no need to travel to the Jiangnan region!"
