Longhu Mountain (Dragon and Tiger Mountain) is located 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province. During the mid-Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling—founder of the Zhengyi school of Taoism—is said to have practiced alchemy here; legend holds that "when the elixir was perfected, a dragon and a tiger appeared," which is how the mountain got its name. Among its peaks, Tianmen Mountain is the highest, reaching an elevation of 1,300 meters. Longhu Mountain is recognized as China’s eighth World Natural Heritage site and is also a Global Geopark, a national-level site of both natural and cultural heritage, a national 5A-rated tourist attraction, and a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level.
