Terracotta Warriors and Horses, also known as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Qin Shihuang Mausoleum, are located in the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit, 1.5 kilometers east of the Qin Shihuang Mausoleum in Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is one of the burial pits of Qin Shihuang. Terracotta Warriors and Horses are a category of ancient tomb sculptures, which originated from the ancient system of burial sacrifice. In the slave society, after the death of the slave owner, the slaves were often buried with him as burial objects. With the development of society, the system of human sacrifice was gradually abolished, and it was replaced by the method of burial with figurines instead of people. After Qin Shihuang unified the six kingdoms, in order to demonstrate his power and status, he ordered the production of a large-scale Terracotta Warriors and Horses as burial objects for his mausoleum. Terracotta Warriors and Horses are made with exquisite craftsmanship. Each pottery figurine and pottery horse is shaped according to the real Qin Dynasty soldiers, with different shapes and lifelike. Terracotta Warriors and Horses Pit has three pits, namely Pit No. 1, Pit No. 2 and Pit No. 3, with a total area of more than 20,000 square meters. Pit No. 1 is the largest, 230 meters long from east to west and 62 meters wide from north to south, with more than 6,000 life-size pottery figurines and pottery horses buried. Pit No. 2 has rich and diverse contents, including infantry, cavalry and chariots. Pit No. 3 is the headquarters of the entire military formation, showing the wisdom and strategy of the Qin Dynasty army.
