Shennongjia Scenic Area is located in Shennongjia Forestry District in Shiyan, northwestern Hubei Province, China. It is the country’s only administrative division designated as a “forestry district.” The area holds a triple distinction as a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve, a Global Geopark, and a World Natural Heritage site. Often hailed as the “Roof of Central China,” it is renowned for its well-preserved primeval forest ecosystem and rich biodiversity, including rare species such as the golden snub-nosed monkey. Shennongjia is also known at home and abroad for the enigmatic legend of the “wild man.” A suggested visit duration is about 6 hours; entry arrangements should be confirmed with your advisor.
