Located in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area—also known as the Jiuzhaigou Tourist Scenic Area—is defined by its "three valleys and 118 lakes." Its primary features include a diverse array of water landscapes, such as five shoals, twelve waterfalls, ten streams, and dozens of springs, which, together with twelve prominent mountain peaks, form a spectacular alpine valley natural landscape. As of October 24, 2025, the scenic area had welcomed a cumulative total of 6.028 million visitors, an increase of 24.13% year-on-year. On May 8, 2007, the Jiuzhaigou Tourist Scenic Area was designated as a National AAAAA-level Tourist Scenic Area by the National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China.
