Your guide will meet you at your hotel at 8:00 AM (or your designated time). The highlight of the day is a visit to the magnificent Forbidden City, which will take approximately 3 hours.
The Forbidden City was the imperial palace of the Chinese emperors from the Ming Dynasty until the end of the Qing Dynasty. Located in the center of Beijing, it was not only the residence of the emperors, but also the center of state etiquette and decision-making. This massive palace complex is rectangular in shape, 960 meters long and 750 meters wide. It has an astonishing 9,900 rooms and a roof area of ​​more than 150,000 square meters. Construction of the Forbidden City began during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Ming Dynasty (1406) and took 14 years to complete. The bright red and yellow colors used to decorate the palace have deep symbolic meanings – red represents happiness, good fortune and wealth, while yellow is the color of the earth and symbolizes the imperial power of the Chinese emperors.
