Feel the warmth of ethnic groups and the beauty of seclusion
Guizhou, a mountainous province in China, often seems low-key compared to other provinces. But Guizhou’s mountains protect its colorful ethnic minority cultures, time-honored folk customs, and unique historical sites.
During your 6-day Guizhou tour, you will depart from the provincial capital of Guiyang and head east to visit beautiful ethnic minority villages, quiet ancient towns, and witness isolated UNESCO natural heritage sites.
Travel Itinerary
Meet your private guide at the airport. You will be transferred to your hotel by private car. Enjoy your free time to explore the city of Guiyang.
On the second day, you will drive about 2.5 hours from Guiyang to Kaili. On the way, you will visit Gaoyao Village to enjoy the stunning view of the terraced fields. Stop at Shiqiao Village to learn about and try their traditional papermaking methods.
Finally, you will visit Qingman Miao Village, which is famous for its dustpan-like appearance. Walking on the bluestone road, you can get a close look at the daily life of ethnic minorities.
This village is quite special in the morning. The villagers dress differently. The women in the village used to be part of the local army, so some of their clothes still look like military uniforms. The village is famous for its ancient batik craft. You will have the opportunity to walk into their dyeing workshop and see how to make beautiful batik works. Participate in the whole process.
In the afternoon, visit two Miao villages and admire their unique wooden dwellings, colorful costumes, cheerful songs and dances, and hospitable folk customs.
Drive from Kaili to Zhenyuan to explore a timeless ancient town. Take a boat trip on Wuyang River and enjoy the picturesque scenery of the beautiful canyon. Feel the breeze on the deck and admire the changing exotic peaks as the boat ripples in the dazzling green water. Then head to Zhenyuan Ancient Town. Zhenyuan Ancient Town spans both sides of the horseshoe-shaped river.
On the other side of the river is a vertical complex of temples, grottoes and caves dedicated to Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Climb up to get a bird’s eye view of the cozy town.
Drive from Zhenyuan to Fanjing Mountain.
Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2018, Fanjing Mountain’s name is derived from Chinese and means “Buddhist Brahma Holy Land”. Fanjing Mountain is an important Buddhist holy site in China and is favored by Buddhist believers around the world.
The mountain is home to many wild animals. Be prepared to marvel at the wonders of nature while you hike. If you are lucky enough, you may come across some rare animals.
After visiting Fanjing Mountain, head to the Shiqian Hot Spring Resort, which has a history of more than 400 years, to relax in the hot springs after the hike.
One of the oldest hot springs in China, located in a national 4A-level scenic area, the mineral water here, unlike most hot springs, has been declared drinkable, making it perfect for bathing!
Your guide and driver will escort you to Guiyang Airport for departure.

Explore terraced fields deep in the mountains:
Visit a village surrounded by terraced fields, which is usually unnoticed by other tourists. Admire the masterpiece of local wisdom and hard work
Drink a cup of rice wine and watch a Miao dance：
Visit a Miao village and feel the hospitality of the Miao people. Learn about their interesting customs of welcoming guests.
Try the oldest papermaking method：
Find the local inheritors of the traditional papermaking method in rural China and learn how their smart ancestors were able to make paper thousands of years ago without the use of science and machines, only using wood.
Feel the beauty of the ancient town in the mountains：
Visit Zhenyuan Ancient Town. This ancient and well-preserved ancient town, with a horseshoe-shaped river running through it, will make you feel tranquility and timelessness.
Soak in a special hot spring to wash away the fatigue of the journey：
At the end of the journey, you can soak in the famous pure hot springs.

- This is a small group tour with a fixed itinerary and guaranteed departures.
You will travel with other people (maximum of 12). - Smart casual dress and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
- The tour guide may adjust the itinerary due to closure of the museums each Monday.
- At the conclusion of the tour, a transfer from your hotel to Hongqiao or Pudong Airport in Shanghai is available upon request at a surcharge.
- Stays at entering and exiting cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei) can be extended.
