This spring, let’s go see her together! Stroll in the amazing sea of rhododendrons, admire the world-famous waterfalls, experience the fun of camping in limestone caves, learn about the traditional handicrafts of local ethnic minorities, and explore the great Chinese projects hidden in the mountains and how they have changed the fate of Guizhou.
Travel Itinerary
Your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport. You will take a 2-hour drive from the airport to Dafang, where the Rhododendron Forest Park is located.
Walk in the Rhododendron Forest Park before the day-tour tourists arrive. Admire the different colors and varieties of rhododendrons. Cross the suspension bridge to the pavilion on the top of the mountain and enjoy the magnificent view of this “sea of rhododendrons”. Your guide will help you find the best photo spots.
Head to Anshun in the afternoon.
In the morning, visit Huangguoshu Waterfall, the largest waterfall in China, and enjoy the magnificent view of the rushing river and karst formations. Walk into the cave behind the waterfall, which is the home of Sun Wukong in the famous Chinese novel “Journey to the West”. Huangguoshu is the earliest waterfall in Chinese literature.
In the afternoon, drive to Ditang and camp overnight in the cave. The local Buyi people will come to cook for you. In the evening, enjoy a unique “cave dinner” while enjoying the mountain view.
The birds’ songs will wake you up. Follow the local Buyi villagers to explore the nearby peaks and forests, through rice fields and Buyi villages. Let the local village guides reveal their hard and happy lives.
In the afternoon, drive to Danzhai, visit the site of the giant telescope FAST on the way, witness the world’s largest caliber with your own eyes, and understand why it leads the world. This “China Sky Eye” is a milestone for Chinese people to explore the mysteries of the universe.
Overnight at the hot spring resort. It’s like a Guizhou ethnic culture theme park. Some intangible cultural heritage projects are displayed and practiced there. This may be a bit too commercial, but at present this may be the best way to protect and pass on traditional arts, crafts and customs.
Walk leisurely in the resort to admire the architecture and ethnic minority styles. Learn and experience batik or bird cage making.
Visit the authentic villages surrounded by terraced fields. Once again moved by the magnificent scenery and hardworking people of Guizhou.
We will drive you to Guiyang Airport to take a flight back to your hometown to end this trip.
Tour 'Wow' Points
Dive into the sea of rhododendrons (visit in April):
Visit the world’s largest “natural garden” and walk through the colorful rhododendron forest, just like wandering in a fairyland.
Embrace the colors of spring – green and pink (visit in mid-March):
Walking in a large farm with cherry blossom forest and tea garden, when you are on the right side with light pink and on the other side with fresh green, you will feel like you are sandwiched between two flavors of cake – cherry blossom and matcha!
Feel the majesty and softness of Guizhou’s waterfalls：
Enjoy the magnificent scenery of Huangguoshu Waterfall. It has a strong “melody” played by water and land. The water sprays on your face like a silk veil.
Hike among the peaks and forests：
Follow the local ethnic minority villagers to explore their wonderful homeland. The unique scenery, quiet villages and optimistic people who make a living there are all highlights.
Experience camping in limestone caves：
Stay in the arched masterpiece of karst landforms. Enjoy the food cooked by the local Buyi people (one of the officially recognized ethnic minorities in China) and listen to their stories.
Marvel at the world’s largest radio telescope embedded in the mountains：
You may not realize how advanced Guizhou is until you visit FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope). Maybe one day it will help us connect with extraterrestrial intelligence!
Learn to make traditional handicrafts with local ethnic minorities：
Dye handkerchiefs with wax to create beautiful traditional patterns designed by the Guizhou Miao people. Or learn to make bird cages with beautiful Miao girls.

- This is a small group tour with a fixed itinerary and guaranteed departures.
You will travel with other people (maximum of 12). - Smart casual dress and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
- The tour guide may adjust the itinerary due to closure of the museums each Monday.
- At the conclusion of the tour, a transfer from your hotel to Hongqiao or Pudong Airport in Shanghai is available upon request at a surcharge.
- Stays at entering and exiting cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taipei) can be extended.
