Travel Itinerary
Upon arrival, your guide will greet you at the airport/train station. On the way to your booked hotel, your guide will introduce you to the highlights and history of Luoyang. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will pick you up for the 40-minute drive to Longmen Grottoes. Along the way, your guide will share with you the history of the ancient capital of Luoyang during the 13 dynasties, as well as the background of the grottoes. An electric car will take you from the arrival point to the entrance of the majestic sightseeing area. Marvel at the number and artistry of more than 100,000 Buddhist sculptures, spread across thousands of caves large and small, covering a kilometer-long limestone cliff along the river. The smallest statue is smaller than a finger – the largest is ten times the size of a life-size. Listen to your guide’s stories behind the development, destruction, and conservation of the grottoes. Climb 100 steps to see the 17.14-meter-tall Lokana Buddha statue.
Walk to the bridge over the Yi River for a panoramic view of the entire grottoes. Alternatively, take a short cruise on the river for a more distant view (at your own expense).
Afterwards, take an electric car to the parking lot and travel back in time to visit the White Horse Temple, China’s first Buddhist temple. Feel the peace and tranquility in the tree-lined complex while admiring the ornately decorated halls, Arhat statues, and temple architecture from Thailand, Myanmar, and India.
Take a 1.5-hour drive to Dengfeng, relax and take a one-hour Kung Fu class at a local martial arts school. You will then be transferred to your booked hotel in Dengfeng.

After breakfast at the hotel, drive an hour to Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of legendary Chinese Kung Fu and Chinese Zen Buddhism. Pass through the white gate with an inscription by Emperor Kangxi and visit the temple’s many halls and their interiors. Equally stunning is the vast pagoda forest – tombs commemorating respected monks from past generations. A visit to the temple is not complete without enjoying a thrilling Kung Fu show, which legend has it originated in the temple as a form of exercise for monks.
Note: Your guide will adjust the order of your tour to ensure you don’t miss the performances at Shaolin Temple, which has five scheduled performances each day. Each performance lasts about half an hour and includes interaction with visitors.
Worth knowing: Shaolin Tagou Martial Arts School is the largest local martial arts school and is located in the Shaolin Temple Scenic Area. Weather permitting, you can see students practicing martial arts in the nearby playground.
Relax comfortably before returning to Luoyang to continue your journey to visit the Six-Horse Carriage Museum, a 2,000-year-old imperial cemetery built on the burial site of an emperor from the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (770-256 BC). Artifacts and relics reveal the burial rituals and ancient history of people in that era.
After the tour, you will be transferred to the train station or airport to your next destination, with the recommended departure time being after 19:00.

- At the conclusion of the tour, a transfer from your hotel to Hongqiao or Pudong Airport in Shanghai is available upon request at a surcharge.
