Xi’an, located in the central part of Shaanxi Province, China, is a city with a long history and rich culture. As one of the four ancient capitals of China, Xi’an was the capital of thirteen dynasties and has hosted countless important events and cultural exchanges in history. The city is rich in historical relics, such as the Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shihuang and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which show the splendor of ancient civilization. Xi’an is also the starting point of the Silk Road and was once an important hub for cultural exchanges between the East and the West. In addition to historical relics, Xi’an also attracts countless tourists with its food culture and traditional folk customs. Overall, Xi’an is a city that combines ancient and modern charm, full of unique historical heritage and cultural atmosphere.

Travel Itinerary
On the first morning of this tour, your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Xi’an, after confirming the pickup time with you in advance. Leave the hustle and bustle of the big city behind and take a leisurely five-hour drive to Hukou Waterfall in Yichuan. On the way, you’ll make a brief stop in Chenlu Ancient Town, a town famous for its pottery making since the Ming Dynasty. Watch how local artisans (who are all residents of the town) create their crafts with the same care and attention as their forefathers.
From here, continue your drive to Yichuan, where you’ll find the spectacular Hukou Waterfall. This naturally spectacular waterfall is the largest yellow waterfall in the world and is stunning in its size, scenery, and color. Your guide will assist you in checking into a hotel near the Hukou Waterfall scenic area, and then it’s time to admire the waterfall itself. If you travel in winter, the sight of the waterfall is even more extraordinary. The frozen water tumbles down the rocks, creating an unusual natural phenomenon. The stunning scenery means there are plenty of photo opportunities. You’ll return to your hotel to relax in the evening.

Note: Due to the Shaanxi History Museum being closed on Mondays, the tour schedule may be adjusted.
After breakfast, your guide will greet you. The day begins with a visit to the Chinese Revolutionary Headquarters in Yan’an, considered the birthplace of Chinese Communism and modern China. Stops at Zaoyuan and Yangjialing Revolutionary Headquarters provide insight into China’s modern history as it emerged through the Communist Revolution.
From here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the daily life of a typical local Chinese family. In the unique architecture of ancient caves, you’ll be able to sample local cuisine and customs with your family.

- This is a small group tour with a fixed itinerary and guaranteed departures.
You will travel with other people (maximum of 12). - Smart casual dress and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
- The tour guide may adjust the itinerary due to closure of the museums each Monday.
- At the conclusion of the tour, a transfer from your hotel to Hongqiao or Pudong Airport in Shanghai is available upon request at a surcharge.
