I’ve wanted to work with pandas my whole life, so this experience checked a huge box off my bucket list. The behind-the-scenes VIP access to restricted areas was so cool—we got to see young panda cubs that most tourists never get close to. The panda science documentary class taught me so much about conservation efforts I never knew before. The only downside is it’s a 1.5-hour drive from central Chengdu, which made the day feel a little rushed. Still, every second interacting with the pandas was worth it.

I loved how hands-on it was—cleaning the panda enclosure was way more fun than I expected, and standing right next to a panda while it ate the bamboo I prepped was incredible. Wearing the official keeper uniform and prepping bamboo for pandas at Wolong Shenshuping felt totally surreal. Worth every penny for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Making handmade wowo tou panda buns and handing them to the cubs at Wolong Shenshuping was the cutest experience I’ve ever had. This is an absolute must-do if you’re visiting the Chengdu area.

This was the absolute highlight of my entire Sichuan trip! Getting to feed a giant panda up close at Dujiangyan Panda Base is a memory I’ll keep forever.

As a lifelong panda lover, this one-day experience exceeded all my expectations. I brought my 10-year-old animal-obsessed kid on this experience at Ya'an Bifengxia last winter. We got to cut and prep fresh bamboo together, then make fluffy wowo tou panda buns for the cubs. My kid still brags about his official International Volunteer Certificate, which is now hanging front and center in his bedroom. It’s the perfect family activity for anyone visiting Chengdu.
