I was worried that the panda encounter would just be a quick glance from far away, but we got so close to the pandas that I could see them munching bamboo clearly. The natural landmarks around Chengdu were even more stunning than the photos I’d seen online, and the trip to Xi’an added such a wonderful cultural layer to the tour. I left feeling like I got to experience the best of southwestern and central China in just 5 days, without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Lynn, our consultant from HelloChinaTrip, customized a small detail for our group when we asked for an extra hour at the panda base, and she was so responsive the entire time before our trip. The 5-day pace was just right—never too rushed, but we got to see all the highlights promised: pandas, Leshan, Mount Emei, and the Terracotta Army in Xi’an. The mix of natural beauty and historic sites kept every day feeling fresh and exciting. Standing at the foot of the Leshan Giant Buddha surrounded by misty mountains was one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever experienced. I can’t recommend this tour enough to first-time visitors to China.

Seeing giant pandas in person was a lifelong dream, and this tour made that dream come true perfectly. Adding the historic stop in Xi’an to see the Terracotta Army was the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful 5 days.

If you love pandas, this tour is non-negotiable. We got to the panda base early in the morning when they’re most active, so we saw almost all of them wandering and eating instead of napping. The side trip to Mount Emei had incredible views that made the early wake-up totally worth it.

I went on this tour with my teenage kids, and every single one of us had a fantastic time. The kids were obsessed with watching the baby pandas play, and my wife and I loved exploring the historic sites in Xi’an and the peaceful temples on Mount Emei. The itinerary flowed perfectly from Chengdu to Xi’an, with all transport arranged seamlessly so we never had to stress about anything. It’s the perfect tour for anyone who wants a little bit of everything on their China trip.

The tour itself was incredible, with once-in-a-lifetime encounters with giant pandas that I’ll never forget. We also loved visiting the Terracotta Army in Xi’an after our time in Sichuan, which was such a nice add-on to the natural highlights. My only complaint is that the Leshan Giant Buddha stop was incredibly wonderful during the May holiday, which made it hard to take photos and move around at my own pace. Everything else was perfectly organized, so I’d still recommend this trip to anyone looking for a mix of nature and culture.

This was the absolute best trip I’ve ever taken to see giant pandas up close in their natural habitat.

I’d book this tour again in a heartbeat just to see those fluffy pandas eating bamboo.

Getting to see baby pandas tumble around at the Chengdu Research Base was the highlight of my entire China trip. We also got to climb part of Mount Emei and see the stunning giant Buddha at Leshan, which was way more impressive than I expected. The itinerary blended wildlife and culture perfectly.
