I joined this tour with my two history-loving teen kids, and every single part of the week exceeded our expectations. The itinerary is perfectly paced, giving you enough guided context and free time to explore on your own between stops. Every meal we had was delicious, from authentic Peking duck to fiery Sichuan hotpot to hand-pulled noodles in Xi'an. This is easily the best organized cultural tour I've ever taken.
I've been fascinated by ancient Chinese civilization for decades, and this tour checked every single box on my wishlist. Walking through the Forbidden City with a knowledgeable guide made centuries of imperial history feel tangible and exciting, instead of just names and dates in a book. The stop in Chengdu to see giant pandas was such a lovely balance to all the historical sites, breaking the week up perfectly. If you only have a week to explore China's most iconic historic hubs, this is the tour for you.
The tour itinerary and guides were fantastic, but we traveled during the May holiday so all major sites were far more wonderful than we anticipated.

Journey Through Ancient China is the perfect way to see three of China's most iconic cultural hubs in just one week. I loved that the tour focused on deep, meaningful exploration instead of rushing through too many superficial stops.
Standing at the Great Wall in Beijing, seeing the Terracotta Army in Xi'an, and watching giant pandas munch bamboo in Chengdu was absolutely magical. Our guide shared so many little-known historical stories that made every stop feel vivid and unforgettable.
