My partner and I booked this tour for our anniversary, and it exceeded every single one of our expectations. We loved the balance of active hiking in Zhangjiajie, relaxed sightseeing in Chengdu, and chaotic city exploration in Chongqing. Getting an up-close visit with the giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base was the highlight of the whole trip for me, and we got to go early before the big crowds hit. We’ve already been recommending this tour to all of our friends who want to visit this part of China, we couldn’t have asked for a better 8 days.

I was nervous about traveling to China for the first time, but this tour took all the stress out of planning. We got to do so many unique local experiences: making Sichuan noodles with a local family in Chengdu, taking a night cruise along the Jialing River in Chongqing, and hiking the famous glass bridge in Zhangjiajie that I’d seen so many photos of. All the transportation between cities was pre-arranged and seamless, and our group only had 10 people total, so it felt really intimate. The food on this tour alone was worth the price of admission—every meal was packed with local flavors that I never would have found on my own. This is easily the best organized tour I’ve ever joined.

I loved exploring Chengdu’s old alleyways and trying Chongqing’s famous spicy hotpot with our group. Unfortunately, we had two days of heavy fog in Zhangjiajie that blocked most of the mountain views, which was a big disappointment. The itinerary was still perfectly planned, and our guide did everything possible to adjust our schedule to wait for clearer skies. I’d still recommend this tour to anyone, just try to go in a drier month if you can for the best views.

Chongqing’s chaotic, hilly, neon-lit cityscape was such a cool surprise, I had no idea how vibrant it would be. Zhangjiajie’s mountains look even more incredible in person than they do on social media, it’s impossible not to be awed.

Seeing the giant pandas in Chengdu was a dream come true, and the Zhangjiajie quartz peaks took my breath away. Our small group size meant we never felt rushed, and our guide knew all the best hidden photo spots. I’d book this trip again in a heartbeat.
