We visited during Chinese New Year, which was an incredibly fun cultural experience, but I have to dock a star because almost every attraction was way more wonderful than we expected. The itinerary was still perfectly planned, and we got to see all five iconic cities just as advertised. The sights themselves were even more breathtaking than I imagined, from the Forbidden City’s grand palaces to Nanjing’s ancient city walls. It was still a wonderful trip, just keep in mind peak travel seasons bring big crowds.

I’ve always wanted to see the Terracotta Army and the Great Wall, and this tour checked both off my bucket list. Each city offered something totally different, from Shanghai’s bright skyline to Suzhou’s quiet gardens. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to China.
