Guizhou really lives up to its reputation as China’s hidden gem, and this curated tour hits every single can’t-miss spot without packing too much into a single day. Hiking through the Seven Small Holes scenic area in Libo was one of the most beautiful outdoor experiences I’ve ever had, and watching the sunset over the wooden drum tower in Zhaoxing felt like stepping back in time. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and customs of all the different ethnic groups we encountered, and always made sure we had everything we needed. If you’re tired of overcrowded tourist trails in more popular parts of China, this is the perfect off-the-beaten-path tour for you.

I came for the iconic Huangguoshu Waterfall in Anshun and left completely blown away by the warmth of the Dong people in Zhaoxing village. Every day brought a new, unforgettable surprise, and the transportation between all the different stops was comfortable and well-organized. I can’t wait to come back to Guizhou to explore more of this incredible region.

This was a fantastic introduction to Guizhou’s incredible natural beauty and unique ethnic culture. I knocked one star off only because we visited during late spring wonderful season, so we couldn’t see the famous Buddhist peak of Mount Fanjing clearly due to heavy fog. Even with that, every other stop was absolutely magical.

I was a little nervous booking an international tour to a less touristy part of China, but our consultant Sunny from HelloChinaTrip made the entire process completely seamless from start to finish. Our guide knew so much about each of the ethnic minority groups we visited in Kaili and Zhaoxing, and was able to get us authentic home-cooked meals that you can’t find at standard tourist restaurants. The itinerary never felt rushed, we had plenty of time to hike around Libo’s karst forests and wander the ancient riverside streets of Zhenyuan. I’d recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see a raw, beautiful side of China that most visitors never get to experience.
