I was a little nervous about traveling to this remote part of China, but this tour made everything easy and accessible. Turpan’s ancient karez irrigation system and Gaochang ruins gave me such a fascinating look at thousands of years of Silk Road life, and the warmth of local people we met along the way made the trip feel extra special. The view of the Karakoram Range from Karakul Lake took my breath away, and wandering Kashgar’s night market trying local snacks was an unforgettable experience. The 8-day itinerary was just long enough to see all the iconic spots without feeling overpacked. This is a trip I’ll think about for years to come.

Our consultant Sunny from HelloChinaTrip helped us adjust our booking last minute when our international flight got rescheduled, and she was responsive and helpful every step of the way. The tour itself matched the description perfectly, with comfortable transport and carefully curated stops across northern Xinjiang. I couldn’t have asked for a smoother travel experience.

This is the most well-organized group tour I’ve ever taken through China.

The scenery, cultural sites, and local food on this tour were absolutely incredible, and our guide was fantastic. We traveled during the spring May Day holiday week, so popular spots like Kashgar Old Town were much more wonderful than expected, which cut a little into our time exploring slowly. It was still a fantastic overall experience.

Karakul Lake and the mountain views on the drive to Taxkorgan were the most stunning I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about local Uyghur and Tajik cultures, and explained the layered Silk Road history of Kashgar clearly and engagingly. The comfortable pacing meant we never felt rushed, even while covering multiple destinations across 8 days. All accommodations were clean, comfortable, and conveniently located, which made the whole trip feel relaxing rather than exhausting. I’m already planning my next trip back to Xinjiang.

The mix of stunning natural scenery and historical Silk Road sites was perfectly balanced on this trip. I loved waking up early to see Tianchi’s snow-capped peak reflected in the crystal blue lake, then biting into sweet, sun-warmed fresh grapes in Turpan the next afternoon. I’d recommend this tour to anyone who loves unique, off-the-beaten-path travel.
