I was a little nervous about visiting a remote part of China on a group tour, but this 7-day trip was perfectly organized from start to finish. The stop in Kaili for the local ethnic market was one of my favorite parts of the whole itinerary, with so many unique handicrafts and friendly vendors. The natural scenery all across Guizhou took my breath away, and getting to learn about the long history of the mountain tribes from our local guide made the trip feel so much more meaningful than just checking off tourist spots. I’ve already recommended this tour to all of my friends who love off-the-beaten-path travel, and I hope to go back again someday.

I’ve done several guided tours across China, and this Guizhou trip is easily one of my top favorites. Every day was well-paced, not too rushed, so we had plenty of time to take photos, chat with local villagers, and soak in the incredible views of the karst mountains. The guide went out of their way to introduce us to local artisans, and I even got to try traditional indigo dyeing with a woman from the Miao tribe. The premium hotels were way nicer than I expected for a tour that goes to more remote areas, and all the meals were delicious. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking to get off the beaten path in China.

The scenery and cultural experiences on this tour were absolutely unforgettable, and the service from the team was flawless. I’m only giving 4 stars because early May brought unexpected heavy rain that made several of the mountain hiking portions slippery and closed one remote village viewpoint. I still had an amazing time, and the team did their best to adjust the itinerary to keep us safe and happy. If you’re planning to go, just double check typical weather patterns for your travel window to get the full experience.

Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different mountain tribe cultures we visited. The 4-5 star accommodations were clean, comfortable, and perfectly located close to all the attractions. I left with such a deeper appreciation for Guizhou than I ever could have gotten traveling on my own.
