This 5-day curated journey starts from Guangzhou, flying you straight to Anhui province to experience its most beloved natural and cultural treasures. You’ll first step back in time exploring the well-preserved ancient villages of Xidi and Hongcun, before heading to the iconic Yellow Mountain (Huangshan) for days of hiking and jaw-dropping alpine scenery. The trip wraps up with a leisurely wander through historic Tunxi Old Street before your return flight to Guangzhou, packing all of Anhui’s highlights into one satisfying, stress-free getaway.
We kick off our trip by departing Guangzhou for Huangshan by air, then head directly to the centuries-old Xidi Village, one of Anhui’s most famous ancient Huizhou settlements. After settling in, you’ll climb up to the village’s Sightseeing Pavilion to catch a sweeping bird’s-eye view of the entire village, with its traditional tiled rooftops and winding alleys stretching out below. 🍽️ A welcome dinner is included after your day of travel, and 🏨 you’ll spend the night at XANA Deluxe near Dongshankou Subway Station.
Today starts with more time to wander the quiet lanes and historic courtyards of Xidi Village, before we travel the short distance to the equally stunning Hongcun Village. You’ll get up close to admire the intricate, centuries-old wooden carvings that adorn Hongcun’s historic ancient residences, then stroll along the edge of the village’s tranquil alpine lake, where the water mirrors white-washed walls and dark tiled roofs for postcard-perfect views. 🍽️ A hearty breakfast and authentic local lunch are included today, and 🏨 you’ll stay overnight at Hongcun Nanhu View Garden · Designer Lake View Resort.
Today we head to the iconic, jaw-dropping Huangshan (Yellow Mountain). We’ll stop first at the peaceful, historic Yungu Temple at the base of the mountain, then ride the convenient cable car up to the mountain’s main trail network. From there, you can choose a hiking route that matches your fitness level and sightseeing preferences, whether you want to chase famous panoramic peak views or take it slow admiring Huangshan’s iconic jagged granite peaks and twisted pine trees. 🍽️ Breakfast is included, and 🏨 you’ll stay overnight at Vienna International Hotel near the South Gate of Huangshan Scenic Area.
After breakfast, we’ll start our descent from Huangshan, hiking along the scenic front mountain route all the way back to the foot of the mountain, soaking in the last of Huangshan’s incredible alpine vistas before we leave the scenic area. Once we descend, we’ll travel to the historic riverside town of Tunxi to settle in for the night. 🍽️ Breakfast is included, and 🏨 you’ll stay at Huiman Hostel Hotel in Tunxi.
Before we head to the airport for our return flight to Guangzhou, we’ll have time to explore the lively, historic Tunxi Old Street. Wander the pedestrian-only lane lined with traditional wooden shopfronts, browse local handicrafts, sample Anhui specialty snacks, and soak up the laid-back traditional atmosphere of this centuries-old trading street. 🍽️ Breakfast is included before we depart for your journey back to Guangzhou.

Xidi and Hongcun were the unexpected highlight for me! Walking through the ancient Huizhou-style villages with their black tile roofs and quiet water lanes felt like stepping back into a traditional Chinese painting. The guide shared tons of interesting history about the village clans that I never would have learned on my own. All the arrangements were perfectly organized, from hotels to transfers, so we never had to worry about a thing.

Having the round-trip flights included from Guangzhou made this so much easier than planning everything myself. Both Yellow Mountain and the ancient villages were everything I'd seen in photos and more, and the guide was knowledgeable and friendly the whole time.

As someone who loves hiking but isn’t super fast, I really appreciated that our guide didn’t rush us through any of the stops. We stayed at a hotel right on Yellow Mountain, which meant we could wake up early for the sunrise without having to hike up in the dark, that was such a nice touch. Xidi and Hongcun both have such distinct vibes, and the tour gave us enough time to wander around on our own after the guided walk. I loved every minute of this trip.

The scenery at Yellow Mount is absolutely unbeatable, and the villages were incredibly charming. We visited during the national holiday break though, so the trails were much more wonderful than we expected, which slowed our whole pace a bit. All the logistics were still handled perfectly by the tour team.

I came on this tour solo as a foreign traveler and felt completely comfortable the entire time. The guide spoke great English, which made it easy to ask questions and learn about all the local culture. The food included on the tour was delicious, especially the local braised pork and fresh bamboo shoots from the mountain. I can't recommend this tour enough to anyone looking to see the best of Anhui in just a few days.
