As someone who lives and works in Guangzhou, I don’t get a lot of long vacation time, so this 5-day itinerary was exactly what I wanted. Xidi and Hongcun felt like stepping into a traditional Chinese painting, with their quiet lanes and preserved wooden architecture that feels worlds away from Guangzhou’s busy city streets. Our guide took us to a lesser-known sunrise spot on Yellow Mountain that gave us unobstructed views without the huge crowds of the main viewing platform. Every part of the trip was well-planned and enjoyable from start to finish.

This tour packs so many incredible sights into just five days, which is ideal for travelers with limited vacation time from Guangzhou. My only issue is that we traveled during the spring golden week holiday, so all the top viewpoints on Yellow Mountain were much more wonderful than anticipated. Even so, the local guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the ancient villages and adjusted our schedule where possible to avoid the worst crowds. I still had a fantastic time and would recommend this tour to others.

The ancient villages of Xidi and Hongcun were such a lovely, peaceful contrast to the dramatic grandeur of Yellow Mountain. The round-trip flights from Guangzhou were on time and completely hassle-free, which made the whole trip feel really well-organized. This is the perfect short getaway for anyone based in Guangzhou who wants to see both natural and cultural highlights.
