Kick off a 5-day unforgettable adventure starting from Beijing, with round-trip transport via comfortable high-speed bullet train to explore three of eastern China’s top attractions: the breathtaking, cloud-kissed Yellow Mountain, and the beautifully preserved ancient Huizhou villages of Xidi and Hongcun. This carefully curated tour delivers excellent value for travelers, featuring a competitive best price and secure, trusted payment processing to keep your entire booking experience simple, transparent and stress-free.

This 5-day journey kicks off in bustling Beijing, where you’ll board a comfortable high-speed bullet train south to Anhui province to explore two of China’s most iconic cultural and natural treasures. You’ll first wander the UNESCO-listed ancient Huizhou villages of Xidi and Hongcun, soaking up their timeless white-walled architecture and tranquil water-town atmosphere, before heading into the mist-shrouded jagged peaks of Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) for days of scenic hiking. The trip wraps up with a leisurely stop at Tunxi’s well-loved historic old street before your bullet train returns you to Beijing, giving you the perfect taste of both China’s ancient culture and world-famous natural beauty in just a few short days.
Your adventure begins today with a smooth bullet train ride from Beijing down to Huangshan City. Once you arrive, you’ll head straight to the hilly, picturesque ancient village of Xidi, a perfectly preserved example of traditional Huizhou design. Climb up to the village’s elevated Sightseeing Pavilion to take in a sweeping bird’s-eye view of the entire village, with its curved tiled roofs and winding alleyways tucked between green hills. 🍽️ A hearty dinner of local Hui specialties is included this evening, and you’ll settle in for the night at the cozy, character-filled Hui Niang Boutique Hotel 🏨.
After a filling included breakfast, you’ll travel the short scenic route from Xidi to the equally stunning ancient village of Hongcun. Wander the flagstone lanes to admire Hongcun’s famous intricate hand-carved wooden details that adorn centuries-old courtyard homes, then meander along the edges of the village’s tranquil lakes and pools, which mirror the village’s white walls and dark tile roofs for postcard-perfect views. 🍽️ A delicious lunch of authentic local Hui cuisine is included today, and you’ll spend the night at the laid-back 7076 · Nanhupan Leisure Resort Homestay right in Hongcun for an authentic village experience 🏨.
Wake up to soft village bird calls and enjoy your included breakfast this morning, before departing Hongcun for the legendary Yellow Mountain (Huangshan). You’ll take a scenic cable car ride up to the mountain’s core scenic area, then spend the rest of the day stretching your legs hiking along well-maintained trails, taking in your first views of Huangshan’s iconic jagged granite peaks and windswept ancient pines. 🍽️ Breakfast is included today, and you’ll stay overnight at the convenient Microtel by Wyndham Huangshan Tangkou after a full day of exploring 🏨.
Rise early if you’d like to catch Huangshan’s famous sunrise over the "sea of clouds," then continue your hiking adventure along Huangshan’s front mountain trails today, where you’ll discover even more of the park’s jaw-dropping natural landmarks. After a full day exploring the mountain’s highlights, you’ll descend and travel to the charming riverside town of Tunxi. 🍽️ Breakfast is included today, and you’ll spend the night at the comfortable Huiman Hostel Hotel 🏨.
Your final day starts with a leisurely included breakfast, then you’ll have time to wander and explore Tunxi’s well-preserved historic old street. Browse handcrafted local souvenirs, sample casual Hui street snacks at your own pace, and soak up the laid-back atmosphere of this traditional riverside trading town before boarding your return bullet train to Beijing, bringing your culture and nature adventure to a close.

Xidi and Hongcun are the most magical ancient villages I’ve ever visited. The contrast between dramatic Yellow Mountain peaks and quiet, cobblestone village lanes made this tour feel perfectly balanced. I loved that we had enough free time to explore on our own between guided walks.

Starting the tour from Beijing was super convenient, and the round-trip bullet train meant we didn’t waste time on airport security and long waits. Yellow Mountain’s infrastructure is really impressive, with cable cars that make it accessible even for casual hikers like me. Xidi and Hongcun felt untouched by mass tourism in many spots, and our guide shared so many interesting stories about the families that have lived there for hundreds of years. This is the perfect tour for anyone who wants to see iconic Chinese scenery and culture without the hassle of planning everything yourself.

I had so many questions before booking this tour, and my consultant Sunny from HelloChinaTrip answered every single one within a few hours. She even helped me adjust my Beijing hotel pick-up time when my international flight got rescheduled last minute. The bullet train seats were spacious, we had plenty of time to hike Yellow Mountain at our own pace, and the local food we tried in Xidi was incredible. This was the highlight of my two-week trip through China, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I was worried about navigating rural China on my own, so booking this organized tour was the best decision I made. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history of both Yellow Mountain and the UNESCO villages, pointing out hidden courtyards I would have walked right past. The bullet train from Beijing was smooth and stress-free, way better than flying for this route in my opinion. I left feeling like I got to experience three totally different, incredible sides of eastern China in just five days.

This 5-day Beijing to Yellow Mountain tour exceeded every expectation I had.

The tour itinerary was well-planned and the ancient villages were absolutely charming. We had unexpected heavy rain during our Yellow Mountain hike that blocked all the mountain views, which is the only downside of this trip.

The round-trip bullet train was so comfortable and perfectly on time, with no delays at all. Yellow Mountain’s sea of clouds at sunrise took my breath away, and the ancient villages of Xidi and Hongcun were wonderfully peaceful.
