I gave four stars only because we traveled during the May national holiday, so all the major attractions were far more wonderful than we anticipated. The itinerary itself was perfectly balanced between the cultural highlights of Beijing and Xi’an and the natural wonders of Zhangjiajie and Guilin, with just enough downtime each day. Zhangjiajie’s otherworldly karst peaks took my breath away, and the Li River cruise through Guilin’s karst landscape was just as stunning as advertised. Every high-end hotel we stayed at was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located near local attractions and great restaurants. Even with the crowds, this was an incredible trip that I’d recommend to anyone looking for a luxury way to see China.
