Essential Guide to China’s 10-Day Visa-Free Transit
What is the 240-Hour Policy?
The 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit allows travelers from 54+ countries to enter China via specific ports and stay for up to 10 days without a pre-approved visa. This is an extension of the previous 144-hour policy, giving you more time to explore China’s diverse provinces.
Travel Boundaries:
- Shanghai Entry: Explore Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces.
- Beijing Entry: Travel within Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei.
- Guangdong Entry: Full access to all cities in Guangdong Province.
How to Use the Blue Card
Upon arrival, look for the “240-hour Transit” or “Temporary Entry Permit” counter BEFORE you reach the main immigration line. You must fill out the physical blue card (which our simulator previews above).
Pro Tip for 2026:
Always carry a printed hotel confirmation. Even though China is highly digital, immigration officers often prefer to see a hard copy or a clear screenshot of your booking in English and Chinese.
